BYOC

1. If you could be a cartoon character – who would you be and why?

Taz!  Cause I'm just like him.  Whirling around everywhere.  I had a span in my teenage years where my mom called me Taz the Spaz.  And my grandmother took that to mean that I loved Taz.  So every gift she got me until I was about 25 had something to do with Taz.  I love Taz!

2. Who was your teenage heart throb? (Thanks Fiona for this one)

Corey Haim.  I can't believe he's gone....

3. Do you believe being overweight is about a mental obstacle or do you believe it’s simply about overeating/food?

I believe it's both for some, that it's one or the other for some, and for others, sometimes, it's neither.  In my case, it was both.  I had a mental obstacle that I self-imposed on myself after being raped.  I had to deal with the rape, which was one thing, but I also had to deal with "giving myself permission to get fat as a self-protection measure".  I also had to deal with overeating.  In order to get fat, I had to throw out all that I knew about healthy and balanced eating.  And once I decided to get back to healthy eating, (after starting the supervised "unweightloss" program) I realized I was going to have to throw out my mental obstacles for once and for all or I was going to struggle.  That was me.

I think for some it is one or the other.  And like I said above, I think sometimes it's neither, too.  Hormones can play nasty tricks on our bodies.  You can eat the "proper" amount of calories but have them all coming from "bad" foods - junk food, fast food, for example.  You may not overeat but if you put crap in, you get crap as a result.  I think, in a nutshell, that for every person struggling with their weight that their is a unique reason.  And that reason, I believe, must be dealt with.  If it's hormones from pregnancy, then it's hormones from pregnancy.  Sometimes that's all that does it.

4. What’s your all-time favorite song?

Don't know that I have one.  It changes with the times, that's for sure.  I don't have a go-to song, though.  I do have a go-to CD.  Something my mom and I would listen to when driving on road trips, when gardening, when putzing on computers, when just chillin with a book.  When I hear that CD it conjures up tons of memories all with wonderful photo memories.  It's David Arkenstone's Valley in the Clouds.  Yeah, it's New Age...

5. Whose blog or comment spoke to you/stuck with you this week and why? This is our “you get to be famous for a moment” without having to follow all the rules of an official blog award question.

I've only caught up on two bloggers and two blogs from one of those bloggers spoke to me, made me want to reach out with hugs.  I was not able to comment at the time as I just read them yesterday.  Both blogs were by none other than our famous Drazil.  One was "The prodigal son is home...should I let him in?" and the other was "Thank you very much...but I'll take the sticks and stones."
