Things I'll look forward to when I'm no longer fat. I wish I'd posted this right when I was starting, nearly 20 pounds ago. Can you believe it? 20 pounds lost? And not even banded, yet? So some of these have been accomplished already or are at least starting...
1) cross my legs without hiking one leg on top of the other and without having to hold my leg over the other, too.
I can do this now, but I have to sit kind of on the side of my lower leg to make it work. I've started crossing my legs a lot again, but there's still work to be done here.
2) open the trunk or the gas tank without having to bounce forward or open the car door.
When I started this 20 pounds ago, I could not open the gas tank with the little lever beside the door without bouncing forward or opening the car door and leaning out. My husband and I commute together so we are generally together when getting gas. Being the gentleman that he is, he pumps the gas. All I have to do, as I am the one that is typically driving since I love love love to drive, is open the gas tank for him. Well...I can now open the gas tank with just leaning forward, like I should. I don't have to bounce anymore and I can't remember when I stopped having to open the door to lean out.
3) put my shoes on without holding my breath.
This is already getting better. I no longer dread wearing shoes that are not just slip-ons. Still lots of work to be done, though
4) no longer having a muffin top.
For awhile, I had one all the time - sitting, standing, laying. Everything. I only have it when sitting now...and then it depends on the pants.
5) wearing real bras!
I wear tit slings. Have you ever seen Beaches? We have 'over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders', we have bras and we have titslings. I don't have boulders, so I don't buy the bolder holders. Way too much constriction for me, there. And I'm fat, so bras are wasted on me - no sexy underwear for me. Which leaves me with what I call titslings. There is enough there to minimize the jiggle, provides a little support, and most importantly to me, isn't constrictive. Think sports bra without tightness or constriction. They are typically a light cotten/spandex blend, although the ones I have are a microfiber. I rarely find them as they are cheap - and don't promote some of what men want to see. But they are comfortable. And they've grown with me. So I haven't had to replace them as I've grown. Nonetheless, I bought these, originally, as lay around things. And now they are the norm. I WILL BE SO HAPPY TO SEE THEM GO! I want BRAS! I want sexy, cute, supportive, perk-me-up bras!
6) not getting a sprained ankle every time I walk a mile or more.
Now this one isn't just tied to my weight. If you've read my blog you might know that I had my foot destroyed while I was in the Navy. The destruction causes pain and some of that pain causes the tendons/ligaments/muscles to lock up just for being normal. That locked up thing starts with a sprained ankle and goes from there. Yes, really, if I walk a mile, my left ankle will sprain itself and if I keep walking, I can end up laid up for days. I'm pretty used to walking around with a constantly sprained ankle now. I know this will never go entirely away. That's ok. I exacerbate everything by carrying all this extra weight. I will be happy when it's just 'the injury acting up' and not 'the injury acting up and being madder because of the weight'. Back in the day when it was just 'the injury acting up' my ankle recovered a heck of a lot faster than it does now with the weight.
On the same token, I'll be happy when my foot isn't constantly mad. My heals...my toes...my feet...
7) When I can see my collar bones.
8) When the nave of my neck re-appears
9) When my ribs start to show again
10) When my pelvic bones come back out
11) When a certain girl part loses it's fat and becomes...ummm..happy to be having sex again
12) When my forearms and elbows reach armrests in various chairs because I'm no longer sitting on a pile of blubber.
13) When hostesses at restaurants don't automatically assume they should seat me at a table with chairs. Dangit, I want the booth!
14) New clothes, shopping, new shoes, shopping, new bathing suits, shopping, new everything, shopping. I will miss my mom when the shopping commences. We loved to shop together - for anything!
15) Working on getting pregnant.
16) Having kids
17) Playing with the kids
18) Not having the hot tub drain out so much when I get into it. (Hot tub overflows into the pool - so not water lost or anything, just wasted heat.)
19) Having more of me in the garden tub in my bathroom. I fit in the garden tub just fine. But if I submerse all of me, the water does go down the clean-out drain. It will be nice to be entirely submersed - and the water all stays in!

I hope everything works out for you.. I was so stressed about getting the financing because in Canada insurance does not cover it. So a different kind of stress.. I am thinking of looking for a job so I can get it paid off because I hate having those monthly payments.. $500.00 for 5 years is a lot. But I keep on looking at what I am getting in return which for me is literally my life.. I am thinking about you and am anxious every time I see you post and saying please let it be approved. SO I am rooting for you...
ReplyDeleteI love your list! You will get all of those things and then some!!

ReplyDeleteOMG - tit slings. LMAO. Love your list and insight and courage....you are unstoppable and changing on the inside right before our very eyes!
ReplyDeleteTitslings!!! LOL That's too much. Great list though. All very attainable. You're getting a great kickstart before you even get banded. Keep us posted on the date.
ReplyDeleteAwesome list!
ReplyDeleteGreat list!! It feels awesome when you discover your collar bones or buy bras at VS. My personal favorite is crossing my legs - I do it all the time at work like I'm Sharon Stone or something (with underwear).
ReplyDeleteLD - I started the exact same list when I started my blog! I just listed one every day. One of my first ones was the shoe thing! I HATE having to put my shoes on in public. If I didn't fall over, I felt like I was going to pass out!
ReplyDeleteGreat posts, I have to say ME TOO on a lot of the things you listed. We will get there!
ReplyDeleteA lot of great things ahead.
