09/01/2011: It's about danged time...

I've been quiet, eh?  Do you even remember me at this point?

Yes, I'm still a bandster.  I'm very much a banded pregnant lady.  And yes, I'm still pregnant, too.  29 weeks and 1 day, to be exact.  I'm huge.  So if the babies are letting food in, then the band is not.  Sometimes, the band is fine - but the babies won't let any food in.  So I'm huge in the belly but the rest of me is still my onederland self.  We'll see how this settles when the babies are born and yada yada yada.

So what have I been up to, you ask?  Not much.  My doctor put me on "bedrest" back in early July.  It's more of a house arrest than a bedrest situation and I love it - to be honest.  I can swim, I can walk around my lake, I can even go out to dinner following a weekly doc appt.  I just no longer have to commute to work or sit in an uncomfortable chair for eight hours wondering when I can take my next nap.  I have nowhere near my normal energy, although I think my energy is just fine considering I am growing two human beings.  I take it easy when I need to and work on what I choose to when I want to.  It's pretty low key and definitely low stress, so I'm happy.  Given how the babies are growing, they are happy, too.

So, why the bedrest?  Back at the beginning-ish of July I started getting contractions.  So my doc said "bedrest".  Well, as soon as he said that, the contractions stopped and I haven't had a single one of them since.  And I now know that I can attribute that to being dehydrated at the time.  Oops...

What else?  The babies are ahead of schedule, as twins at this stage should be.  Everything looks good and I'm doing well.  No preeclampsia, no gestational diabetes, no nothing.  No swelling, no heartburn, no headaches, none of the typical pregnancy side effects.  Just my normal ol' me with a big belly and less energy.

I honestly think the band is helping me to not have heartburn.  Funny how being too tight causes that - and now having it stops it.  I think the band being in place applies just enough pressure at the top of my stomach that the sphincter that blocks the esophagus can stay closed like it should even though the babies continually press up on my stomach.  My doc thinks this is an interesting theory as he said none of his banded patients have ever dealt with heartburn.

Then again, I could just have an iron stomach.  Which I believe is true, too.

So...other than that, not much going on with me.  I've been meaning to get this out there for eons now and rarely feel like sitting up to type.  Sorry about that.  I had anticipated that when I went on bedrest I would be reading blogs and staying caught up but I rarely get on the computer and when I do, it's for brief periods of time.  Laying down is definitely a much preferred position.

I hope all is well out there with y'all.  I miss y'all and this world.

So did I ever tell y'all what we are having?  I think maybe I didn't...cause the last time I blogged was well before any of our showers...and the big reveals happened at the showers.  So....

Two baby boys!

Unfortunately, I'm not sure I want to divulge their names on this blog.  I am still thinking about whether or not to put their names out here or not.  But the leaning is not to do so.

What else can I tell you?  What else do you want to know?  It's been so long I don't even really know where to start - so feel free to tell me what I need to tell you and I promise I'll get another blog posted in a week or so answering questions or whatnot.

Like I said, I hope all is well with y'all.  I hope you haven't forgotten me.  Thank Jen for waking me up and making me get this blog out here.  :)
