Right beside my husband. The where and they why...I don't care so much. I have been all over the world and I love each culture that I've been blessed to observe, even fleetingly. I had a chance, two years ago, to potentially move to India (Mumbai) and I would have loved it - even though it was also intimidating as it's so not like the USA there. Where ever I am, so long as it's with my sweet hubby, I'll love it.
2. How old were you when you got drunk for the 1st time?
I was about 2. A family Christmas. They were drinking spiked egg nog on Christmas Eve. I was drinking plain egg nog. I love the stuff. So when they set their cups down, I'd pick 'em up and finish 'em. They didn't know I was doing it. I didn't know it was different. Eventually, they realized I was acting pretty bizarre - which is really bizarre for me - and put together why their cups were emptying out so quickly as they saw me in the middle of the room, cup in hand (that wasn't mine) wobbling around.
Fast forward to the age of 7. My grandmother owned a beach house in Mexico and we went down there once a month or so to relax on the beach and enjoy the beautiful views. It was hard to keep that house stocked - no grocery stores for miles and miles and miles - so we usually just ate our meals at the restaurant at the entrance to the community. The owners of the restaurant would always give my cousin and I one beer (with half of it poured out) to share. I loved my beer so much I'd beat him over the head with the bottle. He'd get mad and hit my feet with it.
Fast forward to the age of 13. My mom went out with her new boyfriend. My friends and I raded the liquor cupboard.
Fast forward to the Navy years...and dang...I can drink (and swear) like the true sailor that I am.
No worries - I somehow, miraculously, do not have a drinking problem. I enjoy a glass of wine maybe once a week and a beer or a martini every now and then. But it doesn't rule my life like it apparently did when I was 2, 7, 13 or 20-something. :)
3. What was your favorite toy growing up?
My tonka dumptruck. They are supposed to be indestructible...so I promptly figured out how to break it. My dad got so mad at me he wouldn't let me replace it. He bought me a new one when I was about 15 as he decided I was finally mature enough for one. I still have it to this day and it sits front and center in my study!
4. What's your favorite season and why?
Ooh...well...as a fatty - late fall...winter...spring - cause the temps were comfortable
As a person losing weight - summer - cause it's awesome to be outside and not be daunted by the heat.
Clothingwise - late fall, winter, spring - very comfortable easy clothes to wear.
But, of course, as I lose, and therefore lose my fear of wonderful clothes, I suspect I'll love summer again, too!
5. Repeat question....which blog or comment spoke to you or stuck with you the most this week?
I loved 'em all. I am such a comment whore and whenever anyone takes the time to leave me a schpeal I feel so loved and like I matter to this virtual world of fabulous real-life women! I can't wait for Chicago! As for blogs - I loved 'em all, too. It's just such a wealth of knowledge, information, insight, persona...I love it all! Must be why I spend my entire days sitting here perusing the blogs!

I help but giggle on your #2. I'll bet you were a site at 2 wobbling around.
ReplyDeleteI feel like a comment whore today. I have been reading and posting all day. Have done absolutely no work. Since I'm still working on getting a computer for my home I have to just play at work. Unless they have work for me to do.
I can't remember what I did at work before I found blogs. Hmmmm...will have to ponder that. The drinking answer was HILARIOUS! I currently hate summer because I can't stand wearing shorts. I hope that changes when I lose weight...I do live in AZ after all...short weather is year round here.
ReplyDeleteLove the story about the egg nog. You were crazy back then too!!
ReplyDeleteThe egg nog story had me cracking up.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you in the seasons dept, though I still haven't lost enough to make the summer temps feel all too enjoyable just yet.
You leave the most thoughtful comments Lori...thank you. How funny are you being drunk at 2!!!! I love your answer to number 1!!!! Keep up the good work with the losses
