I'm doing a rather ridiculous pre-op diet and I'm constipated beyond all get out. I'm sure that's adding to the 5 pound increase I've seen over the past three days.
I'm doing a rather ridiculous pre-op diet and I don't know when it will end. I'm sure that's adding to my sadness.
I called my insurance company for a status check yesterday. I was told "we haven't received any paperwork for this claim. You still have to submit it if you want a pre-determination".
It can't get much better than that.
I think I'm done calling them.
I know I'm done caring. I can't care. Not anymore. Caring is making me want to cry. Caring is making me want to give up and take control. Caring is making me sad. So I'm going to try not caring for a little while.
In other news - much much better news - my sweet hubby and I had a fantastic weekend with my grandmother, aunt and uncle this weekend. We got in Friday night and just chilled out chatting. My aunt and grandmother both noticed a weightloss and wanted to know what's and why's. So I told them about this crazy diet I'm doing of no carb. I told them as my weight goes down and my protein intake gets to decrease that I'll add complex carbs very lightly back into my diet. They thought I was a genius as it's obviously working and they can see it in my face and neck, especially. We had a good laugh about how I have a football neck and my neck has actually gotten a bit daintier lately. It always is kind of rough being a girl with a football neck.
Think center lineman type neck.
My one saving grace is that there is length in my neck. But it's nice to be moving away from the football player thing...
I told them I have this wonderful "support group" I check in with and they wanted to know how to join. What program am I doing, basically, and what are the fees. Because I want to keep my secrets, I said y'all were a local thing and that we have "meetings" but we aren't a program. They thought that was excellent - a not-diet diet with support and no price tag.
Does sound great, eh?
We talked about eating nickel sized bites and chewing 30 times. I talked about why that's important - aside from the band related importance. They are both going to try that themselves, to slow down, to eat small bites, to savor each bite and to let the digestive enzymes in their saliva have a chance to work.
All this talking lasted all weekend and elicited many a "we're so proud of you, Lori!". I love hearing that. It's a weakness I have - I need/desire/want affirmation. And they gave it to me. So I felt particularly uplifted by this visit!
We went out shopping and wandering hill country on Saturday and really enjoyed the beautiful day and all the Texas wildflowers that are in bloom right now. Sunday we went to church and then my sweet hubby and I had to get on the road for home as it's over a 4 hour drive. The one downfall of the weekend was the bed we slept on. It's hard to complain about a bed when this family is so large - more often than not, you don't get a bed when visiting. But we had this bed that felt like a rock. We were so sore and achey all weekend and got home and had to take a nap before dinner to try and just feel a little better.
And that was my weekend.
Yesterday was awesome as we booked ourselves two trips. One in July to Las Vegas for 5 days. One in August to northern Cali (San Jose area) for 4 days for my birthday which I share with my grandmother. I love having the same birthday as my grandmother!
And that's all I know! Not much of anything...

Don't stress the weight gain. I gained 5 lbs sometime between Friday night and Sunday night...I attribute it to chinese food friday and ham on Easter. I just need to flush out the sodium and I'm sure that is the case with you, too.
ReplyDeleteInsurance companies are evil. Plain and simple! :) You are doing great though!!
Hang in their Lori....brighter days ahead!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww. :( Insurance companies are a pain in the butt! Try contacting your doctor again. At one point, I had to step away from the insurance and focus on something else. You don't know when your pre-op diet ends? That makes me mad at your doctor. They should have scheduled your diet AFTER they got approval. You need to ask some questions to your doctor. *HUGS* Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteYour trips sound like so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteTake a few days off from calling for your own sanity. I know that that is hard, because I wanted to call every hour on the hour, but you are making yourself nutso. I'm still sending you vibes and I know it will come soon, patience I think is the hardest thing ever.
I wish I didn't need to take off time this summer for my surgery because my husband and I would so come to Vegas to meet up with you guys. We haven't been in a few years and really want to get back. It's so much fun!
ReplyDeleteUggg...insurance! The two trips sound great and planning those will give you something to fill your time. D@mn insurance!
ReplyDeleteRemeber the same thing happened to me, they said they didn't even have my paperwork and then 2 days later, I had a surgery date! Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't sweat the 5 pounds.
I agree with everyone!! Especially tessierose!! The Insurance Co always says that they don't have the paperwork unless it actually shows in their system! So don't fret it too much.
ReplyDeleteWait a couple of days, call the Doctor's office and try to find out when they actually SENT the information to your Insurance Co.
Sounds like your trips will be fun and a good thing for you!!
UGGH Insurance! I know that it is hard, as I am in the same spot as you, but just try to keep on keeping on. It will be over before you know it. OK now remember to tell me that in a couple of weeks...
ReplyDeleteAhh you poor girl. We sure do have times like this and they SUCK!!
ReplyDeleteHope the mini-break lifts your spirits :)
I so totally feel like we're leading identical lives, at least when it comes to the pre-determination/insurance part of it. I've been waiting weeks for the approval only to find out that my insurance company apparently didn't get the paperwork. So to make my long story short, the paperwork was finally there today, but now I have to wait for the determination. All this time I was trying to follow the pre-op diet and frankly, I am so frustrated I could about give up, but I won't because I know it'll get me someplace good soon. So keep your chin up, we can do this and we can lose pre-op and have smaller livers when it's time for surgery.
ReplyDeleteOh my girl. Sending a hug in this post. Things will get better. I think you will appreciate and love your band so much more when you get it just because of all this crap.. I so can not relate as mine was self pay. I just stressed that I would not be approved for the loan and worried about the money I was taking each month from my family. But it is all good. i love my band so do my kids just because of the stuff we can do together now... So what I am trying to get out is it will be worth all this frustration and pain.. Again another hug.. PS you should plan a little vacation up this way you can stay at our little house of craziness. We can take you out on some hikes. Tour around together.. Take care my friend..
ReplyDelete(((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteI agree with taking a few days off from not worrying about the insurance company ..and then start back with a call to your doc's office and hopefully they can help you get to the bottom of this!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a phone call out of the blue and get some great news soon!!
