06/18/2012: Accounting 203

I suck.  Big green donkey balls, as Draz would say.  And I do.  Like really.  I don't think the donkey likes it, though.  I should stop.  Find something else to suck.  Don't know what, though....I'd love to switch to pink Kool-Aid.  The sugar free kind.  A pink Kool-Aid world would rock.

But I can't live in that world.  Don't know how.  Old habits die hard.  Donkey lives in my house and he won't leave.

How'd we do eating out last week?  Well, see above.  I suck.

Monday - wait...let me check the bank account.  I can't even remember anymore because I suck.

Well, apparently Monday I did not suck.  Apparently Monday I did eat at home.  Apparently it was memorable.  Shit.  I don't even remember cooking last week!  What the hell did I eat?

Tuesday.  I sucked.  Mediterranean.  I had to have a gyro.  When I said that out loud...of course...Husby agreed.

Wednesday.  I see no evidence of eating out - still looking at that checking account history.  But I know I did.  I'm pretty sure it was because it was a gift card to McDonald's.

Did you know that if you buy gift cards at Kroger's you can get (sometimes) 4x the rewards points.  4x the points means you can save a hell of a lot on gas.  We'll go buy a gift card for whatever it is we're really going to spend money on and, say it's a $25 gift card - that means always a min of 2x the points, so sometimes 50 and sometimes 100.  Depends on the time of year and the associated promo.  But we pretty much always save a dollar a gallon on gas nowadays and sometimes even two dollars a gallon.  We literally filled up our car and our SUV two weeks ago for under fifty bucks.  $49 and some change.  For BOTH vehicles - no, not 49 each, 49 combined.  So we have a lot of gift cards all the time.  So I see no evidence for Wednesday.  But I'm pretty sure we saved money on gas.

Thursday.  Again.  gift card.  Ate somewhere crappy I'm sure.  Sure did not eat at home.  Don't even know what, now.

Friday.  Well...Friday we left the babies at home and we went out.  Yep.  Unattended and all.

Kidding!

Sheesh.  I couldn't leave my sweethearts alone!  No, their Godparents had them.  Godparents told us on Weds "go do stuff".  So we booked a night at a hotel that we had a Living Social deal for and we did stuff.  All over the place.  We drank.  I never drink anymore.  We talked to strangers.  I never talk to people let alone strangers.  That's a lie.  But work with me.  We slept.  And we woke up on our own terms.  And yeah, we did lots of stuff.  We got massages - very over-priced, I might add.  Then left the hotel and got pedicures.  And did more stuff.  But that meant eating out for breakfast, lunch, dinner and then breakfast between Friday and Saturday.

Sometimes with gift cards.  So we saved money on gas.

Saturday, in keeping with sucking big green donkey balls, we kept it up.  And then again Sunday, too.  Sunday at least we ate breakfast and dinner at home.  But not lunch.  No...we're on a roll now.

Dangit.

Well, the good news is...the budget is blown.  We absolutely won't be eating out this week.  Can't.  Checking account ran dry and I'm not tapping into savings for a crappy meal.  Even if if that means we won't save money on gas.

That is all.  Thank you much.

PS - can you tell I'm in fine form today?  I love it!

  2. Ugh - you know - for me it's a summer issue. I "hate" cooking in the summer - when it's already hot I don't want to stand by the stove. I want to be outside - anything but cooking...so eating out always seems simpler...but you're so right - it is such a waste of $$.
