I'm about to graduate next week and I'm not sure I'm ready.
How'd we do with eating out last week? In spite of having no money to do so; not being willing to tap into savings to do so - we did it anyway.
What?
LOL - how do you eat out when you have no money? Leave it to us to figure it out.
I did well, actually. I did not partake in a meal outside of the home until Friday. Husby, on the other hand, was taken out to a dinner and a MLS soccer game Weds night by his cousin and she treated all the way around as a thank you to "us" for hosting her and her children. So that was the extent of eating out last week.
My ideal Friday is to get off work, get the boys, grab KFC, rent a movie and chillax on the couch. Well, we never sit still long enough, these days, to watch a movie. So that never happens. And by these days, I don't mean "with babies", I mean, since Husby and I have known each other, we can't seem to sit still long enough to watch a movie. So we just don't even try anymore. But it still seems to be my ideal Friday night. Well - Friday, we didn't try. But we did get the KFC and then we worked on stuff that we have on the DVR. So a perfectly lazy night of family being family.
The weekend did have a fair share of eating out. Saturday morning we met Husby's brother and SIL at a favorite restaurant in Houston for brunch. And my rules for this month of no eating out were that it was ok if it was a family gathering so this met that condition. Breakfast tends to not be a bad option, anyway, so there's that, too. The rest of Saturday, though, impressively, we opted to cook at home. Yep. We made the choice and wanted to. Sunday, we opted to eat out for lunch as we were out and about running errands and picking up vehicles from being serviced. And just like Saturday, impressively, we opted to cook at home for dinner. Because we wanted to.
I definitely see a change in our habits. Yeah, we're failing miserably at not eating out. Because we are doing so. But we are definitely getting into the realm of choosing not to more often than not; of seeing that homecooked meal as the more enticing option!
We are working on emptying our freezer - so that we can restock it. But before we add fresh this or that back to the freezer of protein, we want the "old" out. This week we should finally finish the task. So I see us opting to eat at home this week just because we are so close to doing something we haven't been able to do in a long time. My husband does the grocery shopping and he "loves a good deal". Usually means, though, that we are throwing out freezer burned stuff that's been in the freezer for a year because we couldn't see it due to all of the "new" protein that has to be added every week. Today - if you opened that same freezer, you'd see two empty shelves. I like. I'm fine with freezing our proteins and keeping a good stock, but let it be a stock we can actually use. And then...let us use it before you add more. I think I'm finally getting Husby to understand that. At the very least, I need to get him to understand "first in first out". You can restock the used lamb chops and ground beef each week. But put the "new" in the back. Too often, we can't get to the "old" so the "new" gets used letting the "old" sit that much longer - which means waste - which means stupid expense.
Anywho...always a work in progress. At least Husby is trainable. I don't know that the same can be said for me, lol.
In other news, well, not much. I know you know - but endometriosis sucks. Just wanted to remind you. I simply cannot believe the pain I am in. And just as soon as I say to myself "I don't know how it can get any worse", well, then it does. Wonderful weekend of progressively worsening pain. Yay me.
That's about it in this neck of the woods. I hope everyone has a great week. I'll be happy if I can just get a little relief from this pain. Tired of hearing about my pain yet? Yep. Me, too!
Have a great week, y'all!
